* Cars will be inspected by an independent inspector. * When registering a vehicle, it will be necessary to fill out a form with name, address and phone number * Inspection of vehicles will be done in a rope off area where only the driver and the inspectors will be allowed. * A check list for the vehicle will be gone over by driver and inspectors: both must sign the list upon completion * Once vehicles pass inspection, drivers will be required to take them to a holding area, where work on the vehicle is prohibited and cannot be touched by drivers until drivers heat is called. * No full framed Chrysler Imperials are allowed. * Cars in a heat will be determined by random draw all done once all cars are registered. * No cars will be accepted once this takes place. * Six officials will be used during each heat. * Re-Inspection of winning three vehicles will be done following feature of derby. 1. Remove ALL GLASS including windshield, side windows, rear windows, head and taillights. All Plastic 2. Vehicle must be swept clean. No junk tires, wheels, metal parts, broken glass, etcÖallowed in car. 3. Remove chrome-molding strips and complete rear seat must be removed. On station wagons all rear seats must be removed. 4. Remove any sharp protruding fins or dangerous objects must be mashed down or cut off. 5. Bumpers off stock nature, stock mounting, no reinforcements, No truck bumpers. Bumpers can be welded to frame. No bridge mounting. 6. Welded solid or chained down engine mounts are recommended. 7. Radiators must remain in original position or be taken off. Comparable replacement radiators are permitted. 8. Seat bracing is permitted from floor only. No roll cage. 9. All doors must be fastened shut by chains, welded, or bolted for the driverís safety. Only six 3" welds allowed per door.No limit on welding of drivers door or passenger door if no post. Coil springs may be welded to axle only. 10. Any battery size is allowed. The battery must be moved from original position and be placed in the driverís compartment and securely fastened and covered. 11. Trunks or tailgates must be welded, bolted or chained. Maximum of six 3- inch welds permitted. No banding or strapping permitted. Hoods must have an opening of 12"X12". Hoods must be open for inspection. Inside of trunk must be visible for inspection. Stock body mounts must remain and no extra body mounts permitted. No interior panels welded. No reinforcing tailgate permitted. NO WEDGING OF VEHICLES! 12. All vehicles must be equipped with an air cleaner. 13. Special numbers are permitted. Please add extra number on roof. No Profanity will be allowed on any portion of the vehicle. 14. Drivers door must be painted white for safety. White car doors must be painted orange or yellow. 15. Stock gas tanks must be removed. Metal replacement gas tanks recommended. Plastic gas tanks may be 16. Pump gasoline or racing fuel permitted. No alcohol or methanol fuel will be tested with hydrometer. 17. No welding of leaf springs permitted. Leaf springs may be banded or clamped in two places. Absolutely no taping. 18. It is recommended that the driverís door be reinforced inside with steel bar, angle iron, or pipe length not to extend more than eight inches on either end of drivers door. May fill with concrete. 19. No solid steel bladed fan can be used. Clutch type, plastic, fiberglass or electric fans may be used. 20. Tires must be DOT approved ñ 8 ply or less automotive type. No double tires or foreign material in tires permitted. No studs or screws in rims to hold tires. Valve stem protectors are allowed. No split rims. Wheel weights must be removed. No hyster or truck tires permitted. 21. A strong wire or nylon mesh screen is recommended on driverís window and windshield area. Plexiglas is permitted in driverís windshield. 22. Front and rear spring suspension, stock appearing, and discretion of official. No welding of shocks or struts. No pipes inside coil springs. 23. Safety belts Z-90 or better-approved helmets, goggles, safety glasses, or face shields are required. No deliberate hitting on driverís door. Vehicles must have dependable brakes at all times and boundaries must be observed. No cars are permitted in the competition area before the heat in which they are to participate. A vehicle will be disqualified if the driverís door comes open during the event. A one-minute limit will be enforced by track officials for restarts and for making competitive contact with another car. Hits must be aggressive. Simple contact within the time does not constitute combat and could be considered sandbagging. All cars are to be removed from track and fair grounds or they will become the property of the elk county fair authority and the officials will have them removed (unless other wise specified at the meeting). 24. A fire extinguisher is recommended at close reach in driverís compartment. 25. Vehicles will be disqualified after a second fire of the night. Officials discretion on type of fire. 26. Front suspension and rear control arms, Absolutely no reinforcing permitted. 27. Any American made automobile, hardtop, sedan, or station wagon. No 4 wheel drives, commercial vehicles, or trucks. NO limoís. 28. 1977 and newer coil spring cars may have leaf springs added. 29. Bumper heights will be checked as you enter the track. 22 inches maximum height. Except pre run cars. Cars from 1977 and up are permitted tail pipe clamps on legal shocks 22 inches maximum height to bottom of bumper. 30. No alcoholic beverages will be permitted on fair grounds. All cars entering the pits will be searched for alcoholic beverages. Any drivers or pit person found with alcoholic beverages will be disqualified 31. All participates are responsible for cleaning up their area when leaving ñ including ALL car parts. 32. All decisions of the officials are final! (NO WHINNING) 33. AGE LIMIT IN PITS: No one under age of 16 is allowed in the pits. 34. Only the Tow Truck and Vehicles with tools are aloud in pit area COMPACT & TRUCK Time: 7:00 p.m. $5.00 per Car Registration COMPACT 1. Type of cars to be used must have a factory 4 or 6 cylinder option, 107-inch wheelbase or less. 2. Electric fuel pumps, any after market electric fuel pump must have a shut off switch mounted in the reach of the driver or officials. 3. The rest of the car must be built to the regular Elk County Fair demo rules. TRUCK 1. Any American made Ω ton or æ ton trucks, 2 & 4wheel drive. 4 wheel drives MUST remove front drive shaft. No dual wheel trucks. Blazers and Suburbans are permitted. Full size only. 2. Caps: Doors must be fastened shut by wire, straps, or chains, or welding, shut for driver safety. Padding is highly recommended for inside of driver door. The 4 bar enclosure around the inside cab is recommended for safety. To long bars one on behind seat, one across dash area, on across each door. You could also build a roll bar off the real support bar behind the rear seat. All inside cab seating can be welded for driver safety. All bars must be inside of cab. No outside roll bars, no running bars, no roll cages. Strong wire of nylon mesh screen is recommended for driver's window and windshield area. You are permitted to chain or weld or bolt the cab to the frame rails for safety. Drivers door only must be filled with cement or have minimum three pipes, or angled iron bars extending no more than 8 inches past door. 3. Body: Can be Dodge with a Ford bed. Chevy with Dodge Bed etc. There must be a 1-inch space between the bed and the cab. No wooden beds, no steel flatbeds, no dump beds. No welding between cab and beds. No plating of sides or floor of beds. No extra reinforcing to bed. It is mandatory that an opening be cut in the hood over carburetor approximately 12 inches or larger. Hood latches must be removed. Chains can be used on tailgates. Tailgates can be removed. Doors must be painted white for safety. Special numbers are permitted. No profanity will be allowed on any portion of the truck. Welding and sheet metal to sheet metal. Tailgates may have 6 ñ 3 inch welds per side. Hoods: may be bolted, maximum 4 bolts, 5/8 inch in diameter. 4. Gas Tanks: No stock gas tanks. Recommended: using a metal racing fuel cell with a metal cover, or a solid leak proof metal fuel container with cover mounted in center of bed slightly ahead of rear axle. 5. Tires: 8-ply maximum. 1000x16.5. No double tires or liquids in tires permitted. No studs or screws in rims to hold tires. Valves stem protector will be permitted on trucks only. No split rims. Wheel weights must be removed. No tractor tires for safety reasons. No hyster tires. 6. Suspension: Must have some bounce. No stiff suspension. No more than 6 leaf springs per side. A maximum of 4 clamps per side, two front and two back. Bumper height max. is 26 inches from bottom of bumper to ground. No short shocking. Springs must have 1 Ω inch stair step down from main leaf. No mag over main. 7. Frame: Stock only. No plating, no adding, no reinforcing, no repairing, and no fabricating. 8. Battery: Must be mounted in cab or under hood of truck. 1 foot or better from passenger side door. If battery is in cab, it must be in some type of battery box, and secured well to keep away from gas tank. 9. Mounting Bolts: Cord support cab, bed bolts, can be replaces with new bolts. Size no larger than 5/8 and 1-3 inch washer on top, 1-3 inch washer on bottom of frame, no extra bolts. 10. Radiators: Must remain in original permission or be taken off. Cooling system must be flushed of anti-freeze and only water added. Transmission coolers are permitted but only if they are secured inside the engine compartment. 11. Bumpers: Step bumpers are permitted as long as the ball hitch plate is cutout or removed. Front bumper can be truck or car stock. Car bumpers can be used on front or rear of truck. Stock style flat bumpers may be used in rear of fabricated flat metal bumpers. Thickness not to exceed 11 gauge or 1/8 inch. |
