ALL EVENTS MUST FOLLOW TRACK RULES
TRACK RULES
All persons must sign the release sheet and receive a pit pass to be permitted in the pit area or on the track.
Nobody under 16 years of age can drive or be in the pit area.
No drinking of alcoholic beverages on track or in pit. Cars and trucks may be searched before entering pit area. Any driver or pit person under the influence of alcohol will be immediately disqualified and removed from the grounds.
Any driver or crewmember disobeying the rules will cause his or her car to be disqualified.
Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and will be grounds for disqualification.
Drivers are responsible for the actions of their crewmembers.
For all event drivers must wear approved helmet, face shield / safety glasses and seat belt.
Absolutely No Tag Teaming.
Absolutely No Head sets / radios.
DERBY INSPECTION
1.Cars will be inspected by an independent inspector.
2.When registering a vehicle, it will be necessary to fill out a form with name, address and phone number
Which will be turned into the office to keep on file for a year.
3.Inspection of vehicles will be done in a roped off area where only the driver and the inspectors will be allowed.
4.A checklist for the vehicle will be gone over by driver and inspectors. Inspector must sign the registration form upon completion of car inspection.
5.Once vehicles pass inspection, drivers will be required to take them to a holding area, where work on the vehicle is prohibited and cannot be touched by drivers until drivers heat is called.
6.Re-Inspection of winning three vehicles will be done following feature of derby.
TOWING AND TRANSPORTING CARS
Towing and transporting Demolition Derby cars to and from race locations must meet highway safety codes. (Including proper light controls, safety chains, tow bars, towing trailers, etc.)
* 8 CYLINDER
Any American made, hardtop automobile is allowed except as follows: No trucks, Suburban’s, Travel alls, and convertibles (unless converted to hard top in a safe manor), Jeeps, limousines, or any full-framed Chrysler Imperial.
PREPARATION OF CAR
(Remove following before arriving at fairgrounds or track)
1. All glass including windshield, side windows, and rear window, head and tail lights. All plastic & fiberglass trim, molding and grill. Rolling windows down is not permitted.
2. Auto must be swept clean. No junk tires, wheels, metal parts, broken glass, etc. allowed in car.
3. Chrome molding strips and complete rear seat must be removed. On station wagons all rear seats and decking must be removed. No loose flooring is allowed.
4. Any sharp protruding fins or dangerous objects must be mashed down or cut off.
5. No special bumpers, reinforcements or trailer hitches will be permitted.
6. Absolutely all carpet must be removed.
7. Drivers doors must be painted white unless white car paint drivers door yellow.
8. NO Profanity will be allowed on any portion of the vehicle.
FRAME
1. There may be NO Welding frame seams!
2. NO foreign material may be welded, bolted, or added to the frame unless otherwise stated.
3. You may not paint, spray or throw mud on any part of frame.
4. Chrysler sub frames from 1967-1973 (not including imperials) may plate the topside of the y’s. Plate may not extend any further back than one inch past the y and may be no wider than one inch on either side of the y, plate may be no heavier than 3/8 thick ( if you have a car that falls into this category and have questions call first)
5. 80’s and newer ford products may tilt frames. No foreign material may be added.
6. You may notch or dimple your frame.
7. Sub swaps permitted
BODY
1.You may cut and roll wheel wells for tire clearance. 6 bolts in each wheel lip 3/8 max bolt 1 inch washer
2. You may patch rust using same thickness of metal as area you’re patching. 2 inch overlap only on rusted areas.
3. Excessive patching will be cut.
4. No Wedging of car allowed.
5. Wagon roofs must remain stock. 9 wire may be ran from roof to rear window lip 3 strands per spot at a maximum of 2 spots per side
6.All doors must be fastened shut by chains, welded, or bolted for the driver’s safety. Only six 3” welds allowed per door. No limit on welding of drivers door or passenger door if no post. Coil springs may be welded to axle only.
7. Plate may be welded or bolted on drivers’ door not to exceed 8 inches on either side of door.
8. Any cars door that comes open will be disqualified
9. Factor body mounts must remain. Bushings can be changed to steel or removed. No extra bolting or welding of the body to the frame will be allowed.
10. Steering Column may be swapped, after market steering shafts allowed.
CAGE
1.You may install a bar behind driver seat. 8x8x _ plates may be welded on body to mount the bar. No
further back than 12 inches past driver’s seat.
2. Dash bar may be installed 4 inch max diameter
BODY MOUNTS
1. All body mounts may be changed, but must remain in their stock location.
2. 5/8 max size bolt with 3 inch washers _ thick
3. You may mount body solid to frame.
4. Bolts are not to travel through bottom of frame rail.
5. No extra body mounts.
HOODS
1. Hoods must have a 12-inch hole cut over the engine for safety purposes.
2.Hoods can be bolted together where cut out, 12-3/8 bolts max with a 1-inch washer per hood.
3.Hoods may be secured in 6 spots using 1 inch bolts or less with no larger than 4 inch washer. Front body mounts may pass from bottom of frame thru the core support and be used as front hood bolts. If wire is used, no more than 3 strands
per hole in 6 places. You may weld 1-inch washer at holes for wire.
4. Hoods must be open for inspection.
TRUNKS
1.Trunks or tailgates must be welded, bolted or chained. Maximum of six 3- inch welds permitted. No banding or strapping permitted. Inside of trunk must be visible for inspection.
2.No interior panels welded.
3. No reinforcing tailgate permitted.
4.You must have an (inspection hole) cut in trunk. Hole must be 10 inches wide by10 inches tall.
5.You may bolt your trunk cut out with 12 3/8 bolts or less you may have a 1inch washer per bolt
BUMPERS
1. Any year OEM car bumper is permitted (NO special bumpers).
2. You may weld all bumper seams. (Bumpers are expensive so weld them to last.)
3. You may trim bumper ends.
4. You may weld all mounting components of bumpers solid to the frame.
5. You may weld bumper directly to frame.
SUSPENSION
1.Suspension must remain stock unless otherwise stated
2.1977 and newer coil spring cars may have leaf springs added. No more then 4 per side.
3.Shackles may be no larger than 8 ''long x 3'' wide 3/8 thick. Front spring mounts to be no larger than 6'' long 3'' wide 3/8 thick all bolts for conversion not to be larger than 3/4. No duct tape on springs no welding on springs. Shackles may be solid
4.leaf spring clamps may be 2'' wide 3/8 thick 2 per side allowed
TIRES
1.Tires must be DOT approved – 8 ply or less automotive type.
2.No double tires or foreign material in tires permitted.
3.No studs or screws in rims to hold tires.
4.Valve stem protectors are allowed.
5.No split rims.
6.Wheel weights must be removed.
7.No hyster or truck tires permitted
GAS TANKS AND FUEL LINES
1.Stock gas tanks must be removed.
2.Metal replacement gas tanks recommended. Plastic gas tanks may be used if encased in a metal or wood box.
3.Tank must be placed in front of rear axle but no further ahead than the back of the front seat.
4.Tank must be welded, metal banded, or bolted firmly to the floor. No rubber or nylon straps permitted.
5.Gas line and fittings may be rubber, metal, or nylon. No plastic gas lines permitted.
6.Pump gasoline or racing fuel permitted.
7.No alcohol or methanol fuel permitted. Fuel will be tested with hydrometer.
8. You may run an electric fuel pump but must have a on and off switch marked.
9.All fuel lines must be secure and leak proof
MOTOR/ TRANNY
1. You may run motor and transmission of your choice.
2. No form of mounting motor and tranny may strengthen frame or body.
Radiators & Fans
1.Radiators must remain in original position or be taken off. Comparable replacement radiators are permitted
2. If using a steel fan it must be a clutch fan. Plastic solid fans acceptable. Electric fans are permitted.
3. Water only!
BATTERY
1. Battery must be secured to floor in front passenger-seating area.
2. Battery must be covered.
BRAKES
Brakes must be functional at all time.
ALL REGULAR DERBY RULES WILL BE FOLLOWED EXCEPT FOR THE FOLLOWING.
* Compact
1.The car must be built to the regular Elk County Fair demo rule
2.Type of cars to be used must have a factory 4 or 6 cylinder option, 107-inch wheelbase or less.
3.Electric fuel pumps, any after market electric fuel pump must have a working shut off switch mounted in the reach of the driver or officials
* Truck
Any American made _ ton or _ ton trucks, 2 & 4wheel drive. 4 wheel drives MUST remove front drive shaft. No dual wheel trucks. Blazers and Suburbans are permitted. Full size only.
Cab:
1.Doors must be fastened shut by wire, straps, or chains, or welding, shut for driver safety.
2.Padding is highly recommended for inside of driver door.
3.The 4 bar enclosure around the inside cab is recommended for safety. Two long bars one behind seat, one across dash area, on across each door. You could also build a roll bar off the real support bar behind the rear seat.
4.All inside cab seating can be welded for driver safety. All bars must be inside of cab. No outside roll bars, no running bars, no roll cages.
5.Strong wire of nylon mesh screen is recommended for driver's window and windshield area.
6.You are permitted to chain or weld or bolt the cab to the frame rails for safety.
7.Drivers door only must be filled with cement or have minimum three pipes, or angled iron bars extending no more than 8 inches past door.
Body:
1.Can be Dodge with a Ford bed. Chevy with Dodge Bed etc.
2.There must be a 1-inch space between the bed and the cab.
3.No wooden beds, no steel flatbeds, no dump beds.
4.No welding between cab and beds.
5.No plating of sides or floor of beds.
6.No extra reinforcing to bed.
7.It is mandatory that an opening be cut in the hood over carburetor approximately 12 inches or larger.
8.Hood latches must be removed.
9.Chains can be used on tailgates. Tailgates can be removed.
10.Doors must be painted white for safety.
11.Tailgates may have 6 – 3 inch welds per side.
12.Hoods: may be bolted, maximum 4 bolts, 5/8 inch in diameter.
Gas Tanks:
1.No stock gas tanks.
2.We Recommend using a metal racing fuel cell with a metal cover, or a solid leak proof metal fuel container with cover mounted in center of bed slightly ahead of rear axle.
Tires:
1.8-ply maximum. 1000x16.5.
2.No double tires or liquids in tires permitted.
3.No studs or screws in rims to hold tires.
4.Valves stem protector will be permitted.
5.No split rims.
6.Wheel weights must be removed.
7.No tractor tires or hyster tires for safety reasons.
Suspension:
1.Must have some bounce. No stiff suspension.
2.No more than 6 leaf springs per side.
3.A maximum of 4 clamps per side, two front and two back.
4.Bumper height max. is 26 inches from bottom of bumper to ground.
5.No short shocking. Springs must have 1 _ inch stair step down from main leaf. No mag over main.
Frame:
1.Stock only. No plating, no adding, no reinforcing, no repairing, and no fabricatin
Battery:
1.Must be mounted in cab or under hood of truck. 1 foot or better from passenger side door.
2. If battery is in cab, it must be in some type of battery box, and secured well to keep away from gas tank.
Mounting Bolts:
1.Core support cab, bed bolts, can be replaced with new bolts. Size no larger than 5/8 and 1-3 inch washer on top, 1-3 inch washer on bottom of frame, no extra bolts.
Radiators:
1.Must remain in original position or be taken off.
2.Cooling system must be flushed of anti-freeze and only water added.
3.Transmission coolers are permitted but only if they are secured inside the engine compartment.
Bumpers
1.Step bumpers are permitted as long as the ball hitch plate is cutout or removed.
2.Front bumper can be truck or car stock. Car bumpers can be used on front or rear of truck.
3.Stock style flat bumpers may be used in rear or replaced by fabricated flat metal bumpers. Thickness not to exceed 11 gauge or 1/8 inch
* FIGURE 8 DEMOLITION DERBY
A Figure "8"demolition derby race is held in an area approximately 200 feet long by 60 feet wide. It utilizes compact cars. Unlike the traditional demo, in this event it is your ability to out think - and out maneuver the other driver, while being the first to complete the required laps.
CAR SPECIFICATIONS
Build the car following compact derby rules except for the following.
1.Any small lightweight automobile is acceptable. 107 inch wheel base or less, four or five lug wheels. Cars must have brakes. DO NOT REMOVE DASH!
2.Drivers door must be securely fastened. A bar, bumper, or guard rail must be attached to the outside of the drivers door. Reinforcements must not extend out from the car more than 3 inches and be tapered off to the body of the car. Reinforcement is MANDATORY, because you may be hit in the driver's side door. Absolutely, no concrete will be allowed. No door reinforcement, you will not run. Passengers door may have extra straps or ties to be welded solid. You may install a bar reinforcement behind driver's seat. Which extends from one side of the car to the other.
3.The front end of your car may be reinforced with the following guidelines:
A. All reinforcements must be kept behind the original grill and with in the original sheet metal.
B. Bars must not exceed 2 inches in diameter
C. At least 50% of the radiator must be exposed to the front of the car.
D. Bars must not extend back more than 24 inches towards the driver's compartment.
OFFICIALS WILL BE THE SOLE JUDGE OF EXCESS REINFORCEMENT AND MAY REQUIRE YOU TO ADD OR SUBTRACT METAL AS NEEDED.

CLASSES
Stock – Up to 34” DOT Street Legal Tires
Super Stock – Over 34” up to 38.5” DOT Street Legal Tires
Modified – 38.5” Up to 44” DOT Street Legal Tires
Anyone entering is subject to the following rules and regulations.
Mud Bug will be ran on time not how far you go.
No dual wheels allowed.
Modifications are acceptable in any class. Open cabs must have roll bars.
All trucks must have fire extinguisher.
No loose objects in truck or anywhere else in the vehicle. No weight added to vehicle.
Trucks must have a secure pullback hitch. No Clevis Provided.
No riders allowed in vehicle during competition.
No one allowed in the competition area except officials.
The course will be marked. Crossing boundaries will result in disqualification.
Stop immediately if you make it through pit.
You will be stopped if official feels the vehicle can no longer moves forward under its own power in the pit.
You will be permitted to run in one class. No tire or driver change.
No reckless driving or speeding anywhere in pit area.
No paddle tire. No Nitrous Oxide or combustion accelerators.
Truck will be classed by wheel size only. NOT wheelbase or engine size.
